Standing by his principles
French President Nicolas Sarkozy says he'll announce next week whether he'll attend the Beijing Olympics' opening ceremony.
He says the decision hinges on progress in talks between China and the Dalai Lama.
President Sarkozy had threatened to boycott the August 8 ceremony
He says he'll give his answer next week, in Japan during a Group of Eight summit in Hokkaido.
China and the Dalai Lama's representatives held an informal round of talks on May 4 and have agreed to continue a formal dialogue process.
