New research shows a three per cent increase in the number of Australian children being diagnosed with type one diabetes.
The Australian Institute of Health and Welfare report shows there were more than six thousand new cases in those aged fourteen or younger between 2000 and 2006.
The rate of cases for those aged over 25 fell during that time and stablised for those aged 15 to 24.
The Institute's Katherine Faulks says more research is underway into why the rates have changed.
