1. Australia’s Foreign Minister visit Vietnam.

The Foreign Affairs Minister, Stephen Smith, is in Vietnam for a two-day visit aimed at boosting business and strategic ties.

Vietnam is seeking greater investment from Australia, which was once the top foreign investor in Vietnam but is now only in the top 20.

Mr Smith has told Vietnam's Investment Minister that funding will be provided for anti-corruption education and investment in renewable energy.

Australia's Foreign Minister Stephen Smith has been talking to Vietnam's leaders about what seems to be a growing drug trafficking problem between Australia and Vietnam.

Vietnam has some of the world's toughest anti-drugs laws and two Australians are currently sitting in jail in Ho Chi Minh City literally with their lives in the balance.

The Australian government is backing their appeals for clemency, as twenty other Australians await sentencing on narcotics charges.
