Mongolia is bracing itself for more political unrest in the wake of this week's violent protests in the capital Ulan Bator that left five people dead.

The government says it's aware certain groups are preparing for large demonstrations to coincide with the end a four day state of emergency imposed after wild scenes involving around 8 thousand people.

It's the first state of emergency in the country, declared after protestors destroyed buildings, torched cars and pelted police with rocks.

The unrest was prompted by the results of weekend elections which protestors claim were rigged.
